Promised Neverland (15)

Promised Neverland, in a world where freedom is deceptive and lost. The story follows three extremely gifted and talented children, Emma, Norman and Ray. Living in an orphanage with their caretaker, Isabella who treats them with love and good food everyday. None of the children are allowed to leave the Orphanage, it’s gated with a really tall wall.

Everything seems normal and amazing until Emma and Norman discover the dark secret that the orphanage is not what it seems to be. It’s a farm, and the children are raised to feed devilish creatures. Through this information, Norman, Emma and Ray plan to escape together,

The trio devise insanely smart plans and as the story progresses, they learn about the other plantations and other human farms. The three children face numerous challenges and betrayals through the story, the ultimate goal is to find freedom for all the children in the Orphan, but Ray and Norman understand that sacrifice and betrayals are necessary if they want to live.

Promised Neverland, it’s a promising anime, bu dum ch… Anyways… The anime teaches the importance of critical thinking and planning. Watchers have many examples of Emma, Ray and Norman constantly analyzing their farm, and devising a plan. It showcases the power of intelligence coupled with the power of resourcefulness to make a powerful plan. The anime also briefly emphasizes the power of sacrificing for the greater good. Characters are forced to make difficult decisions where they choose the group or their individual desire.

Laughing Under the Clouds (14)

Laughing under the clouds, set in Japan revolving around three brothers, Tenka the oldest and strongest, Somamaru and Chutato. The brothers are members of the Kumoh Clan, known to be a group of strong swordsmen. Throughout their village, the Orchid curse is well known and later serves as a catalyst for future events. According to the ancient prophecy, when Orochi awakens, the land will be destroyed and chaos will arrive. The curse is often given to the strongest warriors of all time; once the curse is awakened, the user body will slowly turn purple, and granted enhanced abilities and a thirst for destruction. The brothers befriends a powerful warrior, Shirasu Kinjo who they embark on dangerous adventures with. We eventually learn the oldest brother, Tenka, was given the Orchid curse, and is forced to make the dangerous decision if he wants to sacrifice his life.

Laughing under the clouds teaches the watcher the power of family, power of brotherhood.

The anime emphasizes the importance of family bonds and how you can rely on your family if any problems occur. The Kumoh brothers, exemplify the power of family as they face multiple challenges togethers, and live together. The anime also displays a lot of courage. Due to the Orchid curse, characters are faced with decisions where they have to put their life on the line to save others, this highlights the importance of bravery and putting others before yourself

Dragon Ball (13)

Dragon Ball is an extremely old anime which follows the adventures of young Goku. Advancing in the storyline, Goku embarks on a dangerous quest to find the seven Dragon Balls, which basically allows the user to grant any wish requested. Through his journey, Goku meets different allies and enemies, and learns to become stronger while protecting Earth from any danger.

The anime begins with Goku, training with his adoptive grandfather in material art. He is later joined by a young girl named Bulma, who is searching for the Dragon Ball, in hope to order a perfect boyfriend. Together, they travel the earth, searching for the dragon ball while encountering many different characters, including the powerful martial artist, Master Roshi.

As the series progresses, Goku becomes stronger and more skilled in his material arts; with Goku raw strength cooped with his indescribed determination, he becomes one of the strongest people on earth. Advancing further in his adventures, Goku meets the Saiyan prince Vegeta, and the Nameika warrior Piccolo, and creates many positive memories with those two warriors by his side.

Dragon Ball Z taught me several life lessons through the character development of Goku and Vegeta. The main takeaway includes perseverance and hard work; the characters constantly train and shatter their limits to improve their strength, the anime emphasizes that success comes from consistent effort and dedication. Watchers are also shown the consequences of action as many characters face dangerous decisions, and choose without thinking, which often leads to a negative impact, so it shows  the importance of considering the potential outcomes before acting. While the show does show courageous efforts and brave action, it mostly highlights the importance of self-improvement and growth. Dragon Ball Z portrays characters who constantly strive for greatness, and characters who recognize their weakness and workers to develop a better version of themself where their weakness doesn’t show.

Despite Dragon Ball Z being a primarily violence and action anime, the anime does discuss these themes and life lessons which offer viewers valuable insights and inspirations for the future.

Demon Slayer (12)

Demon Slayer, one of my favorite mangas to read and an amazing anime to watch. The story takes place in a world where demons are common monsters which lurk around every corner. Fortunately, there are demon slayers who protect the citizens who can’t protect themselves. Our main character, Tanjiro, dreams of becoming a demon slayer after witnessing his family die from demons, everyone related to him died, except for his younger sister, Nezuko who became a demon. Determined to find a cure for Nezuko, Tanjiro goes into the mountains to train and get stronger; for six months, Tanjiro trains 24 hours a day, and becomes a respectable demon slayer, he later joins the Demon Slayer Corpse, where he trains constantly everyday. He meets Zenitsu and Inosuke and with their unique skill sets, they battle together as a trio defeating the majority of demons together. Throughout the story, Tanjiro overcomes obstacles and finds the true secret about his family, he learns different techniques through his monstrous drive to learn, and becomes an amazing swordsman using ancient techniques, sun breathing.

I remember in January 2021, I jumped excitedly around my house waiting impatiently for Demon Slayer to come out. I read the Manga previously in 2020, and was not waiting excitedly for the animation to come out. The first episodes were amazing, ineffable animations cooped with an inexpressible story line. Every morning on Sunday, the first thing I do when I wake, I watch the new Demon Slayer episodes. The show taught me that everyone is born with a unique special ability, and it’s only a matter of time before you manifest that new ability and prove who you truly are.

Tokyo Ghoul (11)

Tokyo Ghoul follows a college student named Ken Kaneki, one of my favorite anime characters. Ken Kaneki later becomes half ghoul after encountering a ghoul named Rize Kamishiro. As Ken navigates his new life, and finds his true identity, he meets a couple of other Ghouls who teach him how to live with people who are always hunting his kind.

Tokyo Ghoul teaches a lesson which I wish the world would hear. The cruel reality of discriminating against a certain group of people. The anime highlights identity and discrimination, it allows watchers to view the world from different perspectives.

Throughout the anime, the Ghoul was always discriminated against because of their culture and nature, they were hated for something they can’t change. This realistic anime shows the realisticness of Earth. Overall, this anime shows empathy, shows that we can be friends with people who are different from us. Ths show also highlights the importance of accepting your identity. Overall, great anime which highlights many important aspects and life lessons everyone should know.

My Hero Academia (10)

The anime takes place in a world where the majority of people have quirks, superhuman abilities. The show centers around a young boy named Izuku Midoriya, who dreams of becoming the greatest hero of all time, despite being born without a quirk. Miidoriya luckily encounters the greatest hero, All Might; with Midoriya’s brave and honest heart, he was able to gain the opportunity to attend U.A. High School, an academy for aspiring heroes. Before entering the High School, Midoriya gained the opportunity to obtain a quirk, One For All, the only quirk which can be passed on, despite All Night knowing that this decision could change the world, he still gave the quirk to Midoriya. With Midoriya’s new quirk, he trains his ass off everyday, knowing his body needs to evolve if he wants to use the quirk properly.

As time advances, U.A High school Begins and  Midoriya becomes friendly with all his classmates immediately with his charming personality.  Throughout the series, Midoriya and his classmates face numerous obstacles and challenges, and they eventually learn how to harness their quirk, and become true heroes. Along the way through their journey, they learn the important lesson about perseverance and teamwork.

The anime taught me the importance of perseverance and hard work. Midoriya was literally born without a quirk in a world where having a quirk is essential to become a hero and live. Despite not having a quirk, he refused to give up on his dream, so he trained tirelessly and preserved through the hard nights and cold mornings. He eventually developed his unique ability through training. Through his struggles he learned that success comes from working hard and determination. He learned that working hard always beats talent or ability. The lesson I learned from this show applies to many aspects of life, constantly reminding me I should never give up, no matter how difficult the obstacle may seem.

Kuroko Basketball (9)

Kuroko basketball is a basketball anime, centered around the generation of miracles. The main character, Tetsuya Kuroko, the sixth phantom of the legendary generation of miracles, a group of five basketball players, who dominated middle school basketball. Each player is known to be the best middle schooler player at their position. Despite Tetsu being known as the 6th man, his lack of presence and invisibility allows him to have a unique playing style that makes him a respectable player on the court. Tetsu teams up with a talent rookie player, Taiga Kagami, who has potential to be as good as the generation of miracles; with Testu as the passer, and Kagami as the scorer, they become an unstoppable duo, challenging each member of the Generation of miracles as the show advances.

Kuroko Basketball, the ineffable anime, it’s just a masterpiece. Kuroko Basketball teaches the value of teamwork. Throughout the series, Kuroko’s team shows that basketball is not an individual sport, it’s a team sport.

Classroom Of the Elites (8)

Classroom of elite was a famous manga, which later got turned into an anime. The story centers around Ayanokoji, the mastermind behind everything, and also my favorite anime character. Ayankoji attends this advanced High School, where students are taught and trained to become the future leaders of society. The ranking goes through A-D as D the lowest, while A the highest

Ayanokoji has an ineffable personality, he can only be described if you have seen the anime. He’s a mysterious and aloof student who was placed in Class D. He keeps to himself and only speaks when necessary. He finds a pawn in his game, Suzune Horikita, and uses her to overcome challenges they face to improve and advance their class standing.

Ayanokoji believes that every person has their potential and value, be believes as everything is a game, and in a game, people multiplate others and use them to their advantage often.

This anime definitely increased my chess knowledge and skill, but it mainly taught me the true meaning of manipulation. Ayanokoji manipulation tactics often cause harm and conflict to his comrades, which often strains his relationship with them. It shows how multiplication can only be beneficial when the user really knows how to manipulate others. Ultimately, the anime shows the viewer the perspective of a mastermind.

Death Note (7)

Death Note starts off with a young highschool student, named Light Yagami, who discovers an ineffable book, the book allows the user to kill anybody whose name he writes in it. Light uses the Deathnote to kill many criminals and cleans the world, attempting to create a perfect kind of utopia. Light becomes known as “Kira” and attracts the attention of many detectives, including the best and youngest detective of all time, L. Throughout the series, L and Light fight in an intense chess match, with each trying to smart and manipulate the other. Both characters are extremely intelligent, and use mind games to obtain control of the chess board. Both L and light approach the battle like a chess game, using people as pawns, and sacrificing when necessary. Both characters are cold hearted monsters who have a good sense of human psychology, and use this knowledge to manipulate others.

This anime is the reason why I spend so many hours playing chess. It taught me to think of every game like a chess board, taught me to think of everything like a puzzle. Sacrifices are necessary in order to succeed and evolve from the mediocre stage which gravitifys us downwards. Unpredictableness allows an individual to always be ahead, and when you master the ability to predict others, you can’t be beaten.

  7 Deadly Sins (6)

7 Deadly Sins, one of the most famous magical anime. The story follows the Seven Deadly Sins, a group of powerful knights which disbanded, each member scattered across the world.

When the kingdom was being threatened by enemies, a young princess named Elizabeth chose to embark on a dangerous quest to find the Seven Deadly Sins and request for their help in saving her kingdom. Immediately, Elizabeth meets Meliodas, the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, the two search the country looking to reunite the other members of the Seven Deadly Sins. The anime reviews early on that Meliodas and Elizabeth are cursed, one of the worst curses ever given in anime history. I won’t explain the curse as it is a spoiler, but watchers are quickly introduced to a terrible tragic life story of the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins.

7 Deadly Sins, another sad anime. Despite the storyline, it taught me the true meaning of redemption. Majority of the characters have made serious mistakes in the past they are not proud of, however, they are given an opportunity to redeem themselves and make amends for their actions. The anime emphasizes the power of friendship and the importance of working together to achieve a common goal, it also explores the theme of sacrifice as we see many cases where characters are willing to put their life on the line to support the greater good.
